The Genomic Core at WRI has the most advance genomic technologies including gene expressing profiling, genotyping, sequencing, and real-time PCR. We support all internal and collaborated projects. Since 2003, we have run 760 CodeLink Bioarray, isolated more than 1500 RNAs, 180 Affymetrix Genotyping chips, 29 aCGH arrays, and 35,000 sequencing reactions. This upgraded system enables us to run all Affymetrix expression Genechips, original SNP Genotyping chips and the new 500K SNP Genechips.

In addition, we have a GE CodeLink Bioarray system that includes Human, Mouse and Rat whole genome expression Bioarrays. This system has provided a large amount of data that was presented in 15 scientific conferences and published in 4 scientific journals. The most important issue for expressing profiling experiment is the quality of RNA samples. We use Agilent Bioanalyzer to check all RNA and aRNA quality. To validate expressing profiling results, we use BioRad Real Time PCR instrument. It is also used for Taqman SNP genotyping assays. We are also evaluating RNA amplification methods for Laser Captured Microdissected samples.
For sequencing, we have GE MegaBACE 1000 sequencer with the capability to sequence 96 samples in 3 hours. It is also used for microsatellite genotyping. We are establishing array Comparative Genomic Hybridization (aCGH) platform at WRI which can detect more than 18K markers per hybridization. We have established Whole Genome Amplification protocols for SNP genotyping and are now evaluating its application for aCGH.
